UNDER REVIEW

Oblate Dynamos, formerly known as Drimnagh Basketball Club, was founded in 1983.

The club had its origins in the ragball section of the local youth club. A men’s team and two lady’s teams were set up in the first year, and the story began…

Teams

From those early beginnings the club has grown steadily and now fields 15 teams. There are 8 underage girls teams, and four underage boys teams. At senior level we have two lady’s teams and a men’s team. Our premier team plays in the Superleague

Success

Over the years the club has won many league titles, cups and tournaments. Our proudest moment was when we won the Under 19 National Cup in 2004, beating Glanmire in the final. In recognition of our commitment to the development to the game we were the Irish Basketball Association’s “Club of the Year” in 1986 and 2001.

Senior Ladies Team

Our senior ladies team first entered the Irish Women’s Superleague in 1991 and played at the highest level for three seasons. We returned to the Superleague in 2001 and played a further three seasons against the best teams in the country. That season we dropped down to National League Division One, the second tier of Irish basketball. We reached the Division One final in 2008, losing narrowly to Donoughmore. We rentered the Superleague in   2009

A friendly club

We like to think that we are a real club, in the true sense of the word. For us, the social side of Oblate Basketball Club is almost as important as the basketball. We take pride in the great memories and strong friendships we have formed down the years.
