Team of the Week – Week 16

Tuesday

Division 2 Men are now 4th in the league and they put their 6 game winning streak on the line as they travelled to Ongar face 3rd place Ongar Chasers. We opened up an early lead of 10 points. We maintained that lead through the 2nd and 3rd quarter and in the 4th we went into 5th gear and we scored 20 points in a row to put the game to bed. Darragh O’Neill lead the scoring with 30 points. Sean Phipps scored an impressive 5 three pointers and everyone contributed. The first 5 minutes of the 4th quarter was the best basketball we played all year. We ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 78-49.  Next week we’re at home Killester who are another final 4 contender. We now sit on 9 wins and 5 loses with 7 wins in a row.

Saturday

U11 Boys played templeogue on Saturday morning and it was an end to end game with nothing between the teams , a few lapses in concentration on defense allowed templeogue some unopposed layups, on the whole a good performance.

U13 Boys welcomed Killester to the Oblate on Saturday afternoon and despite missing some key players they really tried their best but could not compete with the fast breaking Killester.

Sunday

U11 Girls played an impressive game on Sunday against Dublin Lions. The girls started the game off well getting back well and scoring well. The girls got a little tired towards the end but still gave it there all till the very last whistle.

U12 Girls to follow…

TOTW….

Senior 3 Ladies played against Rathmines Friday night in the Oblates. We knew we needed a good start to the game as it was a close affair on the away leg. That is just what the team did, we stormed into a 18 – 6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The defence and rebounding from the girls was outstanding tonight. IT was always going to be a niggly game but the girls kept the work rate up right to the end, slight dip at the end of the 3rd when we lost our shape a little but the determination not to allow them back into the game pushed the girls on to win out by 18 points. Final score 58 – 40. Very pleased at the determination of the team, with some tough games coming up and a Cup Semi final we needed to get out mojo back and we did that tonight. Credit all around on a super team performance.
