Team of the Week – Week 11

U17 Boys welcomed Kubs to the Oblate Hall for a unusual midweek fixture, it was a Cup Quarter final that need to be played before Christmas. Expectations where quite low going into this game, as we had been well beaten a few weeks a go by the same team. However the game was very competitive with the Centurions ending the 1st quarter 1 up. Kubs then began to press and it took the boys a few offences to adjust to the pressure, but they did and finished the quarter strong but where 5 down at the half. The game swung from one side to the other but the Centurions just couldn’t quite get close enough to win the game. A better team performance on defence, (Excellent adjustments being made) better shooting on offence (7 threes) and better decision making overall. Lots of small gains equals better performance. #Persevere #Hardworkpaysoff

Senior 1 Ladies played Liffey Celtics on Thursday night in the Oblates and got off to a flyer in the first quarter led by Jen Sheehan and Claire Quinn Nealon that saw Dynamos take a 10 point lead which they held until halftime.  Celtics turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit and draw level entering the 4th quarter.  Dynamos defence has greatly improved over the last few weeks and this was what helped them take the win as they kept Celtics to just 8 points in the last quarter.  4 wins in a row has moved them from second last to second place in the league and a cup quarter final to look forward to in the New Year.  Well done ladies.

U15 Boys played their final game of 2017 away to Ongar on Sunday evening.  It was a well matched game with both sides creating good chances but the Oblate boys missed some easy looks at the basket.  A super rebounding effort for centurions which got us with in 4 in the final couple of minutes but they just fell short. 1 more minute could have swung it their way. The boys were dissapointed but will learn again from this. A well deserved break for them now.  Lynn and the boys would like to wish everyone in the club a wonderful Christmas.

U18 Girls had a cup game on Saturday against Lifey Celtics. Once again we had a slow start to the game and let them take the early lead. The girls fought hard in the second half and brought the gap back to 6 points. However we couldn’t get the lead and lost the game. We won the second half of the game for the second week in a row so we just need to be more focused and ready at the start of games. First game back early January and I know with hard work and attendance at training we can definitely get some more wins. Merry Christmas to everyone.
