Team of the Week – Week 10

U15 Boys traveled to Liffey celtics for a league fixture last Sunday. A game on paper that looked to be a tough one with Celtics undefeated so far in the league. The boys got off to a slow start finding scoring difficult, however as the game progressed confidence grew and the gap narrowed.  Celtics switched to zone and they game then swung back in their favour. A good team performance from the centurions, need a little polishing on offence and defense and they will be ready to compete, Special thanks to Coach T who stepped in for this game as Lynn was away.

Senior 3 Ladies had a couple of rest days before they were back at it on Monday night against a very tough physical Rathmines team. Down to nine players it was always a game that was going to test us. All level at the half we got into our stride and with some big boards both ends of the court we went into a ten point lead. Some lapse in concentration saw us make some silly turn overs but the heads never drops the girls held their cool and with some clever procession of the ball we took the win by 4. The girls now are having a well earned break until we return training on the 12th. Two more games before the Christmas Break.

Our Senior 1 Ladies played Malahide on Thursday in the Oblates and although the first half was a close encounter with both teams matching each other it was Dynamos 3rd quarter efforts on the defensive end that ultimately led to the win as they held Malahide to just 3 points while building up a healthy lead that they would keep to the end. It wasn’t down to any one individual but a great TEAM effort as with their previous win. Next up is a home tie against a strong looking Liffey Celtics on Thursday….

U15 Girls traveled to Moyle Park to play Dublin Lions. Both teams had not dropped a match so we knew it was going to be tough! We got off to a slow start, the girls not quite believing in themselves! Laura gave them some mighty encouragement and the girls changed tactic and had an outstanding second half, unfortunately only losing out by 8 points at the end.

U17 Boys played local rivals Templeogue in a league game on a cold Sunday morning, in the Oblate hall. The boys competed well in the 1st quarter, but the speed and scoring power of the Templeogue proved too much to for the Centurions. First season in A division is proving to be a tough challenge, and in the short term it is difficult to keep motivated. Our goals are much more long term , no short cuts, so keep going boys!

U15 Girls – CUP Match. We had home advantage against Killester. Unfortunately we got off to a very sluggish start and some of the girls seemed tired. With early timeouts imperative, the girls refocused and dug deep to regain composure. Some great teamwork and good decisions gave the girls the WIN they absolutely deserved with very high scoring from Natasha on 23 points and Aoibheann adding a further 18 to the final score of 58-15. The girls are now through to the Semi-Finals of the Cup and will meet Meteors in the next round. Well done girls!

This weeks Team of the Week is both our U11 Girls & U11 Boys!

U11 Boys had a game last weekend it was an early start against Dublin Lions on Sunday morning , both teams were well matched and the emphasis was on defense both as an individual and team . It was a very exciting contest with some great individual performances and yet a lot more could be done. This was the last game of 2017 for the boys , most of them will attend the camp in the new year.

U11 Girls had a great outing in their final game before the Christmas break against Meteors. A great start to the game saw some impressive scoring from the girls but defense still needed to be worked and they tried their hardest throughout. More work needed in the new year but girls are improving all of the time.
