Team of the Week – Week 6

Senior 1 Ladies had a cup fixture away to Malahide on Tuesday and there was very little between the two sides. Malahide had an early 12 point lead but Dynamos got their act together to draw level by halftime. The sides were still level entering the 4th quarter and then with 40 seconds to go Malahide took a 4 point lead. Ciara White hit a 3 and then with only seconds to go Sarah Byrne stole the ball and was intentionally fouled as she broke away. Sarah made 1 of her free throws and Dynamos were level with and had possession from the sideline. They executed the play to perfection as Ciara ran in for the final score and Dynamos were in the next round.

Next up is a tough home game against Tridents on Thursday in the Oblate Hall.

Senior 3 Ladies faced off against Pegasus on Friday night in the Cup, our first home game of the season, a tough game with neither team really getting ahead. We found ourselves behind at the break. We put in a strong 3rd quarter to lead for the 1st time. Some patience’s and big rebounds saw us take the win. Top scorers were Laura with 12 then Martha, Jen and Ellen all netting 8 points each.

Division 5 Men had a fantastic win 68-34 over Vincent’s on Friday night. Gerry Farrell stepped up to coach as Shane was playing the Division 2 match. Starting off well the lads led throughout, with all 8 players on the score sheet by the end of the game. Up 8 points at half time, the lads finished strong, with some great link up play, in the 2nd half. A debut game for u17 Cian Murphy. Man of the Match was Nacho Moran with 18 points. Next game a return visit to Nomads

Division 2 Men lost a very fast paced game to the NABA team. The lads were 21 points down after 7 minutes. They got it back to 9 points going into the last quarter but they went up another gear towards the end and ran out comfortable winners On a scoreline 96-80. David Demoko and Darragh O’Neill were top Scorer with 20 points each.

U15 Boys were on the road this week with a fixture against a team that narrowly beat them in the cup final last season Dublin Sonics. A bad first quarter from the Oblate boys both offensively and defensively gave them a mountain to climb for the remainder 3 quarters. Early foul trouble to key players meant we relied on our bench to keep the pressure on. Super effort from in particular James and ulysses  (who had to go off with a bang to the chest but recovered well, thanks to Natasa and Sonics for their assistance ). We closed the gap over the 3 but could not get close enough. It was a loss but yet again we will learn. All the boys gave everything today and that’s all Lynn asks.
