Thrilling game here in the Carroll arena for the U13 Liffey Challenge. The Molly Malones just pipped the Anna Livias to win by 1 point!! Well done to all the girls and to our coaches and managers and to KUBS for being such fantastic hosts

Another great Liffey Challenge game with the U15 teams competing for the coveted winners title. The Molly Malone’s proved too strong for the Anna Livias and romped to victory. Congratulations to all the girls and thanks again to the coaches and managers, and Kubs for the use of their lovely gym

U16 AICC 2017

Monday, April 24th, 2017
Our u16 girls headed West this weekend to compete in the All Ireland club championships in Galway. The 12 best teams in the land at this age group competing for the honour of champions of Ireland meant a long hard couple of days lay ahead for the young Dynamos.
The team travelled down on the Friday to be ready for the early first game against local team Maree on the Saturday morning. Team manager Adrienne loves the West of Ireland so much that she decided to see most of it before eventually arriving at the hotel and a quick team meeting was called before the 15 ladies hit the hay.
An early breakfast and the team and supporters headed to the gym to face the Galway girls. Dynamos got off to a great start with scores from Sophie and Neisha and led by 2 at the end of the quarter but it was the 2nd quarter that proved to be the deciding factor as Lauren and Ciara put on a fastbreak clinic to put Dynamos up by 7, a lead they would hold onto to take the win. Next game would be against St. Marys of Castleisland and a win would see the girls go straight to the semis and guarantee a top 4 spot overall.
Another good start by Dynamos in a fast paced encounter saw the lead change on numerous occasions and the sides were all square heading in to the 3rd. This was a crucial quarter that saw Dynamos lose their international guard Ciara due to 5 fouls. It was a double blow as Dynamos not only lost a crucial player but St.Marys saw a chance to go for the jugular and stepped up their intensity on defence to move ahead and take the win.
This loss meant Dynamos would have to play a 3rd game that evening against one of the pre tournament favourites,Fr.Matthews and would need to put on something special to even compete with the much bigger Cork champions. As in the 2 earlier games Oblates got off to a flier and built up an 11 point lead with good plays from Caitlyn and Patricia. Fr.Matthews were grinding out the win against a team made up of a mixture of u14s,15s and 16s who never gave up and could walk away from this loss with heads high. The best the Dynamos could do now was finish 7th if they won their last game on Sunday against Brunell so the weekend now became an opportunity to make some team bonding memories as Dynamos went out to dinner in the heart of Galway as 15 sisters of the Oblate family.
Sunday’s game was nip and tuck as both sides struggled to score and Dynamos led by 1 with only seconds remaining but Brunell made a layup to take the win and leave Dynamos languishing in 8th spot. As a basketball experience the weekend certainly could’ve been a lot better for Oblates. Terry knows the girls have a lot of work to do in lots of different areas to compete with the likes of Wildcats and Celtics in the coming years but as a weekend in these girls lives he’s confident they have made some positive memories that they’ll remember when they’re playing Masters basketball. Well done Lauren,Tara B,Ciara,Neisha,Aoife,Caitlyn, Sophie,Megan,Patricia,Aisling,Louise, Kerri and Tara O’D. Ava and Elizabeth also came along to cheer on their teammates.
As for Adrienne, she is still driving around somewhere between Sligo and Donegal.
