Senior 1 Dynamos

Sen 1 Ladies played Tridents 2 in the Dublin Championship out in IT Blanchardstown on Thurs evening. This was going to be a tough fixture against Div 2 opponents Oblate girls had to play without their post players Ellie was away and Theresa was suffering with tonsilitis and could not play. The first quarter finished level 17 each with the Oblate girls struggling to match up to a very big Tridents side. With the girls implememting changes on Defence and more patience on offence Oblate girls were 18 up at half time only allowing Tridents one basket in the second quarter. The girls ran out winners with a very composed second half and all the players contributed to a great TEAM display.

Senior 1 Centurions

Centurion men were in quarter final cup action away to  Dublin Lions. Like all cup games it was a tough and close affair but one the lads relaxed and settled into to the game game, they lead by the end of the first and didn’t let the lead slip after that.

Lions to their credit always stayed in the game but some nice fast breaks and good offensive display by our new  Belgian inside player Oliver and a good 4th quarter team display saw the team through in the end by a margin of 7.

The team are now qualified for the Senior cup weekend next year where they will meet League leaders and  unbeaten Killester. The team will finish out their last fixture before the xmas break tonight at home agianst Tolka 9.10pm.

U16 Dynamos

U16 Dynamos played Meteors on Saturday .The first quarter started slow with only 2 points in it  but with a full course press and pressure denial defence the girls had the lead at the half.  The 2nd half saw some great scores from players inside and solid defence saw Dynamos win comfortable in the end. Great team effort. Improvements every week. Well done girls.

National League ladies

Dynamos got off to a flying start in their home encounter against Tralee with all five starters contributing to the scoring which included 13 points from Katie Maloney and Jasmin Wonik combined. The second quarter went much the same way with Katie Black coming off the bench and netting 8 quick points to give Dynamos a 9 point halftime advantage. The lead increased to 12 as the third quarter came to an end but at a cost to Oblates,as the in form Shannon Whelan had to sit out the rest of the game with an elbow injury. Tralee stepped up their defence in the final quarter and Dynamos began to look a little nervous as their lead was cut to 2 but some crucial free throws from Shannon Farrell saw Dynamos creep over the winning line and secure 2nd spot in the league. Next up is a home tie against Fr Matthews who easily despatched with Dynamos earlier in the season but the girls know they weren’t at their best on that occasion and will look to reverse that result knowing they must face the Cork outfit in the cup semi final in January.Top scorers Katie Black 13, Shannon Farrell 12, Jasmin Wonik 9,Katie Maloney 9.

This weeks TOTW are our U18 Dynamos

U18 girls were in action on sat against KUBS in the Cup. These Teams had not met in the League and both teams had only lost one game so far this season, so were an unknown entity to each other. The first quarter ended with Oblate Girls 3 points up in a very tight battle, the second quarter saw Mae hit three 3 Pointers in a row and Ellie with another 3 but Kubs finished the quarter stronger and led by 5 at the half. The third quarter was neck and neck, Lauren B hitting 2 threes to keep in touch, Kubs up seven at the end of the third. The last quarter really brought out the best in the Oblate girls, their determination not to give up and play some great Team basketball, Claire and Amie made their presence felt on the court winning the last quarter 20-8. Oblate girls through to the Quarter finals by a six point margin. A real gutsy display.
